The six most commonly used types of raw materials for refractory products.

Refractory raw materials refer to the materials necessary for the production of produtos refratários. They are the foundation of refractory material production. Most refractory raw materials are natural minerals. No entanto, with the continuous improvement of the comprehensive performance requirements for refractory materials, industrial raw materials and synthetic raw materials (such as industrial alumina, mulita sintética, artificial refractory fibers, and artificial refractory hollow spheres) are increasingly used in the production of refractory materials. The quality and cost of refractory products largely depend on the correct selection and rational use of raw materials.

Refractory raw materials can be classified by their chemical properties into acidic, basic, and neutral refractory raw materials; and by their origin into natural mineral raw materials and artificially synthesized raw materials. Geralmente, the raw materials used in the production of refractory materials are categorized into main raw materials and auxiliary raw materials.

The raw materials used to produce refractory products, whether natural mineral raw materials or artificially synthesized materials, must, from a mineralogical perspective, possess a sufficiently high refractoriness to achieve the desired product properties; from a technological perspective, they must meet the basic requirements of the manufacturing process; and from the perspective of the performance of the resulting products, they should meet the performance requirements of the products in use, especially their high-temperature performance.

Refractory raw materials are usually classified into alumina-silica refractory raw materials (siliceous, clayey, alto teor de alumina, etc.), basic refractory raw materials, insulating refractory raw materials, and other refractory raw materials.

The six commonly used refractory materials in refractory products include: silica-based raw materials, clay-based raw materials, high-alumina raw materials, basic refractory raw materials, raw materials for zirconia products, and raw materials for chromium-based products.
